Collection of Astronomical Instruments, ETH Zürich

The Collection of Astronomical Instruments contains about 300 scientific instruments that belonged to the former Eidgenössische Sternwarte in Zurich and ETH Zurich’s Institute for Astronomy.

The collection is divided into two parts: a) Rudolf Wolf’s holdings: a collection of historical equipment belonging to the first professor of astronomy at ETH Zurich and b) Sternwarte holdings: instruments that were collected after Wolf’s tenure right up until the Sternwarte was closed down in 1980.
